Old Mandeville Real Estate
The town of Mandeville was founded in 1834 under the direction of Bernard Xavier de Marigny. His father was a prominent Louisiana politician who owned almost 2/3 of New Orleans. Louis Bringier, the general surveyor of Louisiana, drafted the town plans. They were officially submitted to Bernard on January 14, 1834. Most streets were width 50 feet, except for Jackson and Marigny streets, which were never more than 50 feet.
Located on what is called the North Shore of New Orleans, Mandeville is known for its natural environment and its numerous wildlife. Mandeville is what many call a suburban community in that most people who live in Mandeville work in New Orleans. Mandeville is just a 35 Minute Drive to the heart of New Orleans.
