Coquille Parks and Recreation: The group envisioned a place where children could play In 1984, the Madisonville Men’s Civic Club established the Youth Boosters. In 1989, volunteers worked on two baseball fields on Pine Street. Over the next couple of years, more makeshift practice fields were added to various vacant lots. The creation of the recreation district led to the formation of the Parish Board. Recreation District #14 was created to serve the residents of the area within. In 1999, voters approved a bond issue to build a recreation facility.
They also passed a property tax to operate and maintain the site. In 1999, the recreation district purchased a large tract of land in Louisiana. It would soon become a multi-use facility that would house various sports teams. On September 8, 2001, a ground-breaking ceremony was held for the new West St. Tammany Parish School District.
