What Happens If It Doesn’t Appraise?

What happens when your home doesn’t appraise? Believe it or not, it happens more than you may think. We’ve sold a lot of homes this first quarter of 2019, and so far we’ve had two homes not appraise. Here’s some things you can do if your home does not appraise:

1. Contest the Appraisal – Make a list of all the improvements that you’ve made to the property.
2. Land Value – Often the appraiser’s opinion is off. You can have 3 different people appraise it and give different values.

The biggest thing though to do is make a list of the improvements and give that to your realtor to give to the appraiser so they can maybe make a concession upwards based on the money you’ve invested in the property.
